چکیده

During 2019, 28 grave constructions were excavated at cemetery Metaljica (Hadzici municipality, Bosnia and Herzegovina). Archaeological excavation have revealed 17 well preserved skeletons that subjected to anthropological, odontological genetic analyses. To determine sex by analysis, amelogenin DYS391 loci taken into consideration. Concordance between results of analyses applied in this research occurred one sample out 17. In four samples, was determined only since sexual dimorphism indicators not preserved. determinations observed two while affirmative anthropological analysis obtained sample. Discrepancy the majority samples can be atributted state preservation skeletal remains, interpopulation differences allele drop-out. Moreover, applicable juvenile/subadult skeletons, sexually dimorphic characteristics relevant for metric morphological are developed developmental period. This study emphasizes importance combining methods order archaeological remains accurately.

Sex determination in skeletal remains from the medieval Eastern Adriatic coast – discriminant function analysis of humeri

AIM To investigate the usefulness of humerus measurement for sex determination in a sample of medieval skeletons from the Eastern Adriatic Coast. Additional aim was to compare the results with contemporary female population. METHODS Five humerus measurements (maximum length, epicondylar width, maximum vertical diameter of the head, maximum and minimum diameter of the humerus at midshaft) for ...

Sex Assessment Using the Femur and Tibia in Medieval Skeletal Remains from Ireland: Discriminant Function Analysis.

Sex determination based on discriminant function analysis of skeletal measurements is probably the most effective method for assessment of sex in archaeological and contemporary populations due to various reasons, but it also suffers from limitations such as population specificity. In this paper standards for sex assessment from the femur and tibia in the medieval Irish population are presented...

Metric Methods of Skeletal Sex Determination using the Arm Bones of Two British Medieval Populations

Several studies have stated the importance of devising population-specific metric methods for sex determination. The long bones of the arm have been previously reported as having a high reliability. This paper explores the degree of sexual dimorphism in adult arm bones displayed in two Medieval British populations, one urban and one rural. The urban Gloucester population sample consists of 45 i...

Application of the temporal bone for sex determination from the skeletal remains.

This paper presents state of current knowledge on possibilities and accuracy of sex determination from the temporal bone. Experimental and comparative studies performed on temporal bones derived from different human populations allowed to verify to what extend this bone is valuable source of information on sex of individual. It was figured out that the temporal bone can be used for this purpose...
